Second Penang Bridge

The Second Penang Bridge was opened in 2014, connecting Penang Island to mainland. The bridge spans 24 kilometres from Batu Maung to Batu Kawan. As the engineering consultants for its structural maintenance scheme, we have carried out underwater inspections and condition assessments of the bridge’s underwater pile and viaduct structures. The underwater bridge inspection was the first to be conducted using ROV in Malaysia. Assessment was made on 292 piers, 49 viaducts and 2 main bridges for two main lines, the East Bound (EB) and West Bound (WB) structures.
