The Firm

Incorporated in 2005, CGB CONSULTANTS Sdn. Bhd. (680952-m) is a multi-disciplinary consultancy firm registered with the Board of Architects, Board of Engineers Malaysia and the Ministry of Finance (MOF). We have decades of experience in conserving heritage architecture, assessing significance, preserving heritage changes, and the readapting heritage buildings to promote a Malaysian cultural identity and social cohesion. Our aim is to preserve buildings and places ensuring long-term performance, while retaining its cultural significance and value with maintenance management programs and a positive socio-environmental impact to the community and the next generation.

In the process of becoming a developed nation, it is critically important for Malaysia to preserve its heritage and cultural assets to maintain our unique identity, providing future generations with a connection to their past. CGBC has been majorly involved in the conservation of heritage projects, and protected sites, including the inscription of Malaysia’s two latest UNESCO sites in 2024 and 2025.

We provide consultancy services in practical asset management, asset condition inspection, and periodic building inspection in compliance with the Street, Drainage and Building Act; supporting government agencies, laboratories, developers, contractors, conservators and Managing Agent of Facility Management companies.

Executive Director

Dato’ Ir. Dr. Ch’ng Guan Bee

Ch’ng Guan Bee obtained a Civil Engineering Degree from the University of Tennessee in 1986, followed by a Masters of Science and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Civil Engineering from Oregon State University in 1993 and 1996 respectively. His Ph.D. research was part of an extensive research project on an area of active seismic control, financially supported by National Science Foundation (NSF) of USA.

Ch’ng is a corporate member of the Institution of Engineers, Malaysia (IEM), a registered professional engineer (P.Eng) with the Board of Engineers, Malaysia (BEM) and a registered ASEAN engineer. He was active at IEM, serving as the chairman of the Highway & Transportation Technical Division for two terms and chairman of the Earthquake Sub-Committee.

He is currently the Director of Engineering at CGB Consultants Sdn Bhd and has extensive experience in project management, consultancy and research in civil engineering, forensic investigation and earthquake related engineering. He acts as a director in various property and investment setups, and contributes academically as an Adjunct Professor at the Infrastructure University of Kuala Lumpur (IUKL) with two Ph.D. students under him, working on advanced multi-purpose powder material research. In addition, he is part of the Industry Advisory Panel at Inti University (Nilai campus) and Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP, Perak).

Director

Ar. Junn Ng

Junn Ng was born in George Town, Penang. She completed her high school education in Penang and her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at the University of Oregon.

She is a registered professional architect and interior designer with The Board of Architects Malaysia (LAM), as well as a registered conservator with the National Heritage Department Malaysia (JWN). She also serves in the Architecture and Landscape Council of JWN for heritage listing, and it is her second term in the International Council on Monuments & Sites (ICOMOS) Malaysia.

Currently she is the Director of Architecture and Heritage at CGB Consultants Sdn Bhd, providing multi-discipline practices in architecture, heritage architecture and C&S engineering.

Associate

Rizal Husin

Rizal Husin is a Senior Associate Architect at CGB Consultants Sdn Bhd. He obtained his first degree, a B.Sc in Housing Building and Planning (Hons) from Universiti Sains Malaysia in 1995.  He worked for Chan and Shahriman Architects over a year before furthering his studies, obtaining his Bachelor of Architecture degree from USM.  He has over 24 years of experience as an architect and academician. Upon graduation he joined Perunding Alam Bina and involved in a few flagship projects such as the Jelutong Expressway and Batu Kawan Stadium. He is active as an academic and gives lectures in various academic institutions such as UTM and IUCTT. He has worked in several capacities prior to joining CGB Consultants Sdn. Bhd.. He has won, presented and published various academic writings in international journals and publications; including the highly prestigious Elsevier Science Journal. He joined CGB Consultants Sdn. Bhd. in 2005.
