Seri Negara

Completed as a government house c1913 for the use of the Federated Malay States (FMS) high ranking officers. Throughout the decades before the independence of Malaysia, the building held many important meetings and gatherings with foreign dignitaries such as the Malay Royalty, British Royalty, king of Siam, including the deputy President of the United Stated, Nixon in 1953. Its name was changed a few times from The Government House to King’s House and finally as Istana Tetamu when the Signing of Federation of Malaya Agreement 1957 was held. The building was as heritage by the Department of National Heritage in 1986 and the building use was adapted to hotel since then. In 2024, Khazanah National took the effort to restore and building with the objective to preserve the historical significance of the site for the future generations.
